Here's the reality of that B-17 flight. Flowers don't drop like 500 pounders. They travel in the slip stream of an aircraft doing 300 mph plus and were let go by the CIA Director from the top dorsel window of the radio room as close to the Statue as permitted by the FAA. The formation flight was also buffeted by high winds so flying information would have endangered people and this was pulled back. I suspect this is about expectations on the ground - this flight wasn't meant to be an extension of the air show but to provide transport for a solemn purpose. It meant every expectation of the families who lost their loved ones and fulfilled the mission of the memorial program. I would respectfully propose to get up close and personal with these vintage aircraft come out to the Airpower Museum at Republic.
