as of 5:20pm Thursday afternoon eastern time Twitter started out with numerous over capacity errors and now the site is down entirely.

Update 6:02pm : from twitter’s tumblr account : We’re currently experiencing a high error rate on Twitter. Our infrastructure and operations engineers are responding to the incident.
