November 29, 2008 by quintanomedia · View Comments

Dave and I are here sitting in the edit suite going over our footage piecing together our footage from tailgates. We are game planning what we are going to shoot tomorrow. Dave and I will be parked directly in front of the practice bubble in front of gate D. There is a huge tailgate with Sal and Carmine right across the street from where the jet pack is parked. If you would like to be on camera for our documentary drop by or try and grab us if you see us walking around.

Thanksgiving Day Prep

November 23, 2008 by quintanomedia · View Comments

Well the one day out of the year where we actually have more than 3 people over our apartment for a meal is coming up. This year we discovered a much better way of brining a turkey than what we did last year. Plus a few extra tips.
If everything works out as planned our turkey should look something like this.
Our Thanksgiving day menu looks like this:

Appetizers:
tostitos with salsa
coconut srimp
variety of cheeses with crackers
Stuffed Mushrooms

Entree:
21 lbs Turkey Brined for 8 hours the night before
coated under the skin with a herbed butter and also coated outside the skin
with a seasoning on top.
A homemade sausage gravy

Sides:
Sweet Potato Casserole
Green Bean Casserole
Sausage bread stuffing
Roasted Garlic Mashed potatoes
Cranberry mold

Desert:
2 homemade apple pies
1 homemapde pumpkin pie
Homemade chocolate chip cookies
jello mold
Pumpkin spice and Apple pie cupcakes courtesy of Sweet Avenue Bake Shop
pecan pie
I will video tape our cooking a little bit and post a highlight the day after of our dinner :)
I hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving

trump plaza outside shot
Here is a quick glimpse of the hotel we stayed in. Kim and I had both got a free nights stay here at trump the last time we attended back in september. We stayed in a pretty nice room for it to be free.
our room at trump plaza
we had a beautiful of the ocean and the Caesars Pier.
Kim and I spent the full day we had there first heading to breakfast down the strip in Margate City.
I did a quick google search and found a small cafe called The Breakfast Club of Margate.

I nice affordable breakfast you can see here from there menu

Kim and I then went back to the hotel for a nap and then headed north to a town called smithville just north of Atlantic City.
The Smithville Colonial Village
We visited a small colonial like village with shops and restaurants. Kim wanted to shop for some christmas ornaments so went into a nice little combination of two stores called the Christmas Shoppe and the Candle Shoppe

After we finished in smithville Kim and I headed to the Tropicana for dinner at Cuba Libra. If your a fan of cuban food this is the place to eat. Kim and I both ate churrasco steak with sausage, tostones, maduros. we only had one drink because they were way to expensive. I had a Grilled Pineapple Mojito,
grilled pineapple mohito from cuba libre
while kim had a tropicana.
kim drinking her tropicana
afterwards we wandered through the tropicana and made our way for desert at Buddakan in Caesars Pier.

The Boardwalk in Atlantic City nov 17, 2008
Here we are a beautiful clear day with the sun rising over the boardwalk down here in AC. This is the view from our trump plaza hotel room. Kim and I hung out at the tropicana last night

and met up with her parents for dinner at Carmines. By the way Carmines has some awesome food. We were both celebrating belated anniversaries. After dinner we attended the comedy stop at the trop which was very entertaining as well. Considering that Kim and I dont really want to gamble we are going to drive away from atlantic city and checkout the town of historic smithville nj. From what I hear its historic colonial style town. Well Stay tuned to my twitter and I will update as often as I can. I hope everyone is having a wonderful monday.

Obama’s First Weekly Presidential Address

November 16, 2008 by quintanomedia · View Comments

obama first presidentail youtube address

President-Elect Barack Obama has pledged to deliver weekly “fireside chats” a la FDR via YouTube, and today he posted his first. The content of the video isn’t unexpected: he calls for immediate help from Congress to aid unemployment insurance, and calls for all Americans to come together to weather the hard economic road ahead. What’s remarkable is how right it feels.

We mostly use YouTube for clips of things like a cappella renditions of John Williams songs, but this address is helped by the familiarity of YouTube: it treads the line between casual and formal without ever becoming either. Yeah, we’re a bunch of durn lib’rals here at Giz, but this is an important milestone in how we interact with our elected leader, and Obama made his weekly debut in the right way. There was no mention of the medium, nothing garish like, say, a holographic Will.I.Am.. YouTube is simply the easiest, most widespread, and most accessible way to directly address the people, and that’s why it doesn’t feel forced or stilted. Well, that and the way I just get lost in the music of his voice. [Change.gov]
